The Los Angeles Dodgers are known for their rich history and iconic uniforms, but in 2024 they will be adding a new twist to their traditional look with the City Connect Air Force 1. This collaboration between Nike and Major League Baseball aims to bring together sports, culture, and community through unique uniform designs.

The City Connect series was first introduced in 2020 with the Boston Red Sox, followed by the Miami Marlins in 2021. In 2022, it was the Chicago Cubs’ turn to showcase their city’s pride through a special edition jersey and cap. The inspiration behind the Dodgers’ City Connect Air Force 1 comes from its location – Los Angeles Air Force Base. The base is home to several units of the United States Space Force and plays an important role in national defense. The color scheme of blue and white pays homage to both the Dodgers’ iconic colors as well as those of the Space Force.

The design features a clean white upper with blue accents on the Swoosh, heel tab, and tongue label. A subtle nod to LA’s aerospace industry can be seen through small silver stars scattered across the shoe. The sock liner also showcases a graphic of Dodger Stadium with a constellation design above it.

One unique element of this collaboration is that it extends beyond just footwear. The Dodgers will also be wearing a matching City Connect uniform during select games in 2024. This includes a blue jersey with “Los Angeles” written across the front in silver lettering, along with silver pants featuring blue stripes down the sides.

Aside from honoring its city’s ties to space exploration, this collaboration also aims to give back to local communities. A portion of proceeds from sales of both the shoes and jerseys will go towards supporting youth programs focused on science education and technology.
